Das besonders qualitätvolle Werk zeigt wie kein anderes bisher im Kunsthandel gezeigtes Gemälde dieses Künstlers den Einfluss von Auguste Renoir. Deutlich sind die Parallelen in der Komposition und im Kolorit. Der Duktus weist ebenfalls die Vielfalt an Strichtechniken auf, die die frühen Werke von Renoir auszeichnen.

Renoir war in den späten 1890er Jahren der Mentor von Abel Faivre, nachdem dieser seine Ausbildung an der Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon sowie weitere Studien an der Pariser Academie Julian bei Lefebvre und Constant durchlaufen hatte.

Den Künstler zeichnete eine spontane Auffassungsgabe aus, die ihn auch als Zeichner und Karikaturisten befähigte.

Renoir was in the late 1890s, the mentor of Abel Faivre, after he had gone through his training at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, and further studies at the Academie Julian in Paris with Lefebvre and Constant.

The artist drew a spontaneous perception that enabled him as a draftsman and caricaturist. Famous in France for his work for Le Rire and Le Figaro.
